The Cambodian Community of Hawai’i would like to acknowledge Senator Suzanne Chun Oakland, 13th Senatorial District (Sand Island, Kalihi, Liliha, Nuuanu, Pauoa, Puunui), for taking the time to make our event known to all of the state senators and obtaining their signatures on this certificate. The Senate
State of Hawaii

HONORS THE CAMBODIAN COMMUNITY OF HAWAII
FOR OVER THIRTY YEARS OF CONTRIBUTION TO OUR STATE,
AND CELEBRATES THE KHMER NEW YEAR

The Senate takes great pride in recognizing organizations dedicated to perpetuating the unique and special cultures and practices of the diverse peoples of Hawaii. The Cambodian Community of Hawaii (CCH) is one such organization.

Cambodian culture, both past and present, is a culture of the arts. Since the Angkor period, Cambodia has assimilated the arts into the fabric of everyday life. Through folk music and dance learned from relatives and neighbors, the arts have become not simply leisurely pastimes, but rather, they help form the core of Cambodian identity. It is therefore with pride that Cambodian Americans commemorate their New Year and sharing it with the broader Community.

Year after year, with limited resources, in term of both people and funding, Cambodians in Hawaii take time to celebrate and to show appreciation for all of their accomplishments. Once again, the CCH has come together to commemorate the beginning of a New Year – and the beginning of new opportunities, goals, and dreams.

The Senate of the Twenty-Third Legislature hereby honors the Cambodian Community of Hawaii for their decades of contributions to the community and the State of Hawaii, celebrates the Khmer New Year and extends its warmest Aloha and the best wishes to them and their families in all future endeavors.
